The Trump administration is withholding some $18 billion from major infrastructure projects in New York City, citing concerns over diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought said the funds “have been put on hold to ensure funding is not flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles” in a Wednesday morning post on X.

New York Building Congress President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura, in a press release: “As an organization, the New York Building Congress is committed first and foremost to building the infrastructure that sustains and strengthens our communities. Our focus remains on ensuring that critical projects move forward without delay. To keep these projects on time and on budget, it is essential that federal funds are released as soon as possible.
