Our statement from New York Building Congress President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura, Esq. on the Penn Station redevelopment project timeline under Amtrak:

“Penn Station’s future is here. After decades of delay, we finally have a clear path to transform the nation’s busiest transit hub into the world-class gateway New Yorkers deserve.

The New York Building Congress applauds U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Amtrak Special Advisor Andy Byford for bringing urgency, vision, and unity of purpose to this long-overdue project.

This isn’t just about fixing Penn, it’s about creating tens of thousands of good-paying union jobs, driving investment across our region, and delivering a brighter, safer, and more welcoming station for the millions of travelers who pass through it every year.

With construction set to begin by 2027, the Building Congress and our members are ready to get to work and make Penn Station a true point of pride for New York.”
