Statement on NYS Budget Agreement, Full Funding of MTA Capital Plan

Our statement from President & CEO Carlo Scissura, Esq. on the budget deal reached today in Albany:
“New York runs on transit! And the Building Congress is thrilled that the advocacy effort that our entire industry undertook over the past months to fully fund the 2025-29 Metropolitan Transportation Authority Capital Plan in the New York State budget have spurred just that – an investment in a future-proof, modernized, safer, faster, more accessible transit system for our region.
We sent thousands of letters to our elected officials, who clearly heard what we needed to build our way forward, and we thank them for stepping up when New Yorkers needed them most. Gov. Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins and Assembly Speaker Heastie and both houses of the legislature deserve credit for literally put the money where their mouths are, delivering on the promise of a better transit tomorrow for our region.
We know there are details to be worked out, but we look forward to working with Albany leaders in the coming weeks to ensure that our MTA will keep New York moving!”
