Published on May 27, 2026
Our statement from Carlo A. Scissura, Esq., President and CEO of the New York Building Congress regarding Governor Kathy Hochul signing legislation that includes her “Let Them Build” agenda and significant reforms to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA):
“For years, the Building Congress has advocated for the kind of forward-thinking, common-sense reforms that SEQRA will deliver across the state. From cutting red tape, to speeding up delivery, to saving money – while still ensuring that environmental impacts remain a top priority – this package of legislation is transformative for our industry. We thank the Governor for her leadership on this issue and for hearing the concerns of our industry. Our members look forward to building better, faster, and safer for all New Yorkers!”
