New York, NY (December 6, 2024) — The New York Building Congress celebrated prominent building and construction leaders who have helped shape the city’s future at its annual Industry Recognition Gala this week.
This year’s gala was hosted by New York Building Congress President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura, Esq; Chair Gregory A. Kelly, President & CEO of STV; Gala Co-Chairs Laura Bush, Regional Director, NYC Metro, Consigli Construction Co., Inc.; Bane Gaiser, U.S. East & LATAM Chief Executive, AECOM; and Gala Journal Chair Chris Esteban, President, A. Esteban & Company.
More than 950 attendees representing various sectors of New York’s design, construction and real estate community joined the New York Building Congress at the New York Hilton in Midtown Manhattan. In addition to the reception, dinner and program, the Gala featured a Young Professionals after-party for rising city building and construction industry leaders.
“Our annual gala is an opportunity to come together and celebrate the strides we’ve made in the industry while lifting up the people working every day to advance the field and transform it for the future,” said Carlo A. Scissura, President & CEO of the New York Building Congress. “We’re proud of the progress made this year and will continue to make in 2025 – from growing the workforce to pre-pandemic levels and moving forward key projects like the Gateway Program and a new Port Authority Bus Terminal. The future is bright for our industry, and we’re grateful to have so many integral partners fighting for the same vision.”
“The greatest project isn’t a building or infrastructure system – it’s cultivating the next generation of industry leaders to ensure that New York’s building industry remains at the forefront of innovation and excellence,” Building Congress Chair Gregory A. Kelly said. “Tonight’s honorees have shown us the height of what’s possible. The foundation has been laid – now it’s the next generation’s turn to build upon it and reach even greater heights.”
“Right now in the State of New York, we have not only the largest public infrastructure project going on right now with the Gateway Tunnel, but we also have the largest private sector project in American history with the building of Micron in upstate New York,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul told the attendees in remarks. “I love building in every corner of this state. And we are doing exceptional things.”
The Gala’s Guests of Honor included McKissack & McKissack President & CEO Cheryl McKissack Daniel; SL Green Chief Operating Officer Edward V. Piccinich; Northwell Health President & CEO Michael J. Dowling to accept the Building the Future Award; and Jack Resnick & Sons President Jonathan D. Resnick to accept the George A. Fox Public Service Award.
