Most Successful New York Building Congress Event Yet, Drawing Over 1,000 Supporters
New York, NY — Prominent building industry leaders gathered for the New York Building Congress’ Industry Recognition Gala on December 5, 2018, at the Grand Hyatt in midtown Manhattan. Hosted annually, the Industry Recognition Gala is the premier event honoring the ongoing work of New York City’s construction, design and real estate industry. This year’s Industry Recognition Gala was the most successful ever – with over 1,000 attendees – celebrating New York’s continued growth.
The annual gala is an opportunity to recognize the work of some of New York’s most prominent leaders and celebrate the positive impact the building industry has on the state as a whole. Building Congress President & CEO Carlo A. Scissura highlighted the incredible growth and successes experienced by both the building industry and Building Congress in 2018, including larger events, increased advocacy efforts in City Hall, Albany and Washington, D.C., and 113 new members.
The gala’s Guests of Honor were Michael S. Zetlin, Co-Founding Partner of Zetlin & De Chiara LLP and Lynne P. Brown, Ph.D., Senior Vice President for University Relations and Public Affairs at New York University. Building Congress Chairman Milo E. Riverso, President & CEO of STV Group, Inc., presented the George A. Fox Public Service Award to Joseph Malandro and the General Contractors Association of New York. Special recognition was also given to Senate Democratic Leader Charles E. Schumer.
The gala was co-chaired by John F. Fish, Chairman & CEO of Suffolk, and Marian Klein, President of Park Tower Group, and Patrick A. DiCerbo, Financial Representative with Northwestern Mutual, served as Journal Chair.
The event’s Underwriters were AECOM, New York University, STV Group, Inc., Suffolk, Thornton Tomasetti, and Zetlin & De Chiara, LLP.
